Anticipated Reads for 2018

I’ve compiled a list of books I am excited to read this year. The information provided on titles and release dates have been taken from the authors’ social media pages, websites, and/or Amazon. Any incorrect info is all on me. Feel free to correct me with more updated info. I will try to update myself as more information becomes available.

  1. Scratch Track (Escaping Indigo #3) by Eli Lang
  • Release Date: January 29, 2018

One of my favorite themes in books is rock stars. As a former radio DJ and avid concert-goer, I am always looking for that music angle in romance novels. Eli has personal experience as a musician and the authenticity of the characters and music industry comes through in each of her books in this series. Scratch Track features Escaping Indigo’s roadie, Quinn, and his journey to finding love.

  1. No Rulebook for Flirting by Laura Bailo
  • Release Date: February 10, 2018

Laura is a new author to me, and I am anxious to jump into her newest release. Rulebook features competitive board gaming which intrigues me. Growing up, my cousins and I would play board games at every family gathering, so board games hold a special place in my mind. Laura has tagged this as a trans romance. I’ve read only one trans romance so far, and I’m ready to add more to that list.

  1. The Pick Up (Up Red Creek #1) by Allison Temple
  • Release Date: March 5, 2018

This debut novel features an MC with a daughter. I enjoy the trope of single parent and new romance combination. As a mother, I can relate to the daily struggles of child-rearing. I enjoy reading how characters balance their identities of being a parent with finding love.

  1. Life of Bliss by Erin McLellan
  • Release Date: April 16, 2018

According to the author’s website, this is a follow up to Life on Pause that features Todd and his love interest, Victor. If you haven’t read Life on Pause, go do that now. One MC is Native American who fully embraces his heritage and is endearing adorkable. The author’s website touts this as friends-to-enemies, fake relationships, and wake up married.

  1. Noah Could Never by Simon James Green
  • Release Date: June 7, 2018

This is a follow up to Noah Can’t Even, which I enjoyed immensely. It is hilarious and ridiculous and fabulous. Seriously, go read my review of Noah Can’t Even if you’d like to learn more.

  1. Sequel to Controlled Burn by Erin McLellan
  • Release Date: Late Summer 2018

Erin’s debut novel, Controlled Burn, was such a delight to read. Joel’s internal struggles were heartbreaking and Paulie’s fabulous personality disguising his own struggles was adorable. The follow up features Joel’s roommate, Travis, and Travis’ love interest, Connor . Ever since reading Controlled Burn, I’ve been *needing* Travis’ story.

  1. How to Belong with a Billionaire (tentative title) (Arden St. Ives #3) by Alexis Hall
  • Release Date: Late 2018

Arden and Caspian have to be two of my all-time favorite characters. I could go on and on and on about how much I love Arden’s sense of humor and style. And Alexis’ writing is just phenomenal. If you read only one book this year, it should be this one. Of course, if you haven’t read the first two books, do that now. Yes, RIGHT NOW. I’ll wait…

What books are you looking forward to reading this year? I am always happy for other rock star or unconventional MC recommendations. Or really any other recommendations. Let me know in the comments.

Happy reading!
